"I'VE TAKEN 20+ LESSONS WITH ESTHER AND CAN ATTEST THAT SHE IS A FANTASTIC TUTOR! THOUGH I WAS AT A "CONVERSATIONAL" GERMAN LEVEL BEFORE I STARTED, MY HOLD ON THE LANGUAGE HAS JUST TAKEN OFF SINCE MY FIRST LESSON. A FEW THINGS STAND OUT IN PARTICULAR. FIRST, ESTHER HAS PROVEN VERY ADEPT AT TEACHING ALL OF GERMAN'S INFAMOUS RULES. I WAS A PRETTY CASUAL/ROUGH GERMAN SPEAKER AND, WHILE I COULD SPEAK, I DIDN'T KNOW MANY FORMAL RULES ON CASES, PREPOSITIONS, AND SO ON. WITH ESTHER, I'VE REALLY BEEN ABLE TO START GRASPING THESE RULES--EVEN IN REAL-TIME WHEN SPEAKING--AND IT'S MADE MY GERMAN MILES BETTER (AND MORE CORRECT!). SECOND, SHE IS VERY DEDICATED AND STRIVES TO DO MORE THAN JUST "TEACH FROM THE BOOK." SHE IS CONSTANTLY TAKING NOTES DURING THE LESSON (LIKE NOTING WORDS I DIDN'T KNOW, OR HOW TO PHRASE TRICKY SENTENCES), AND MAKES HERSELF AVAILABLE OFFLINE IN CASE WE WANT TO EMAIL HER QUESTIONS. SHE ALSO DEVELOPED HER OWN GUIDES (ON THINGS LIKE CASES AND ADJECTIVE/NOUN ENDINGS) THAT SHE ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE UPDATING. AND PERHAPS MOST IMPORTANTLY, ESTHER'S LESSONS ARE ENGAGING: WHILE LEARNING A LANGUAGE IN CLASSROOM CAN HONESTLY BE PRETTY BORING, I'VE NEVER HAD TROUBLE PAYING ATTENTION OR STAYING FOCUSED DURING HER TUTORING. WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!"

Started learning German by myself through self teaching and apps out there and I really hit a plateau so I decided to give it a try with Esther. Esther is a native of Germany and provides additional context about the language (what's common to say, cultural aspects, etc.) that textbooks and apps cannot teach. What i do really like about the lessons is Esther is detail oriented, patient, and understanding that German is a relatively hard language especially if English is your first and only language. She has a structured approach we have been working through and provides the extra time to give optional homeworks and grades them which is an added bonus to having her as a tutor. I highly recommend her for courses in German at any level.
